I taught and Directed the Drama Llama Camp at Stagelights Theatre in the Summer of 2022. We performed a condensed version of Moana in five days. My team and I utilized crafts, voice and movement to teach the kids the fundamentals of acting while staying age appropriate for them. The kids made their own Heart of Te Fiti, Tamatoa crabs, Kakamora coconuts and lei’s and they worked together to create what they imaged “The Ocean” would look like. Every craft was utilized in the show at the end of the week and they got to take them home afterwards. They learned about props and costumes, how to support each other and work as a team, and they got first hand experience in how a theatre production operates. They also experienced the joy in overcoming fears and seeing how much they can do when they work hard, while having fun!
