I directed The Taming of the Shrew for the Appalachian Shakespeare Project in 2016 at Concord University in Athens, West Virginia. We performed at the outdoor area outside of their theatre building, but we also had to prepare to perform inside in case the weather was not on our side. With a very limited budget, I decided to modernize this performance and have actors bring in clothing they owned and were willing to use for the production. I worked alongside the Dramaturg and overall supervisor Dr. Gabriel Rieger to help actors understand the text and to explain the best way to tell the story for the audience.
